As you may know, the mad and mental designers and engineers at Lamborghini, have confirmed that they are going to take their striking skills, and put them onto the upcoming Urus SUV!
The Lamborghini Urus is now a thing. And it’s going to be on sale soon!
Yet the actual Lamborghini Urus has been spotted testing in Denmark, before it’s 2018 reveal. (And we know a few things about it)
A More Modest Engineering Approach…
According to Auto Express magazine, the Lamborghini Urus will not be powered by a V12. It will most certainly not be powered, even by a V10! In fact, the Urus’ heart won’t even be a free breathing engine…
Instead, the bull on stilts is to be powered by the same 4.0 litre twin turbocharged V8 as you get in an Audi these days.
Moving with the times? Yes! Good for Lamborghini’s image? Hmmm, we’re not too sure on that. But we do know that it’ll kick out at least 600bhp!
Despite this move, the former CEO of Lamborghini (Stephan Winkelmann) has stated that Lambo’s supercars are NOT necessarily ready for forced induction just yet.
The Fastest And Most Powerful SUV Ever?
Winkelmann has also stated something else which might get your little tinkle tingling.
He claimed: “The Urus will still be a super sports car among the SUVs. It will be the most powerful, the fastest, but also one that is easy to drive and handle. This is a major step!”
Now that’s quite a bold claim in some respects, because the massively plush W12 Bentley Bentayga currently holds the title of the most powerful and the fastest SUV there’s ever been.
So, if the upcoming Lamborghini Urus can top that, then they’re onto a winner!
Let’s be fair and expect a sub 4 second 0-60 time and a top speed of around 160/170mph…
Better Looking Than The Concept?
Besides the fact that the Urus will sit on the same platform as the Bentayga and the Audi Q7, Lamborghini appears to be pretty damn confident with how the new car will look.
As well as taking major design cues from the 2012 concept, the production car is apparently going to be ‘even better’.
They claim: “What we have now is a better version of the red Lamborghini Urus [concept] car you saw in Beijing in 2012. If you put what we are doing today next to the one we had in 2012, I already see that the 2012 car is ageing.”
Judging from the spy shots, the front end of the Lamborghini Urus is to be Aventador inspired. Which is sure to REALLY set this car apart from it’s heavy competition!
Be sure to look out for it in 2018!
